P2: Summer YouTube Blockbuster (Or Not...)

We finally finished Punchy 2! We posted it last night all around the 'net and everyone seems to be thoroughly enjoying it. We actually wrote the script back in March and a slew of things got in the way of us actually shooting and/or completing the shoot: back injuries, travel for at least three different cast members, location difficulties (that show Numbers on CBS totally snagged our parking garage one day!) and of course - then there was the edit. I basically used all of my vacation from work this week to edit P2.

Was it worth it? Yup. But now we're hoping that we can take some time and really get our portfolio together so that we can make better wicked awesome films and hopefully, actually get paid for it someday. That would be swell!

If you haven't seen P2 yet:

Back on the Front Page of YouTube

Wicked Awesome Films is back on the front page of YouTube! Six months ago (today actually) we were featured on the home page of YouTube with Punchy. Punchy got a ridiculous amount of hits, and I doubt NBK 24/7 is headed for that many, however, we are fairly proud of it and we're definitely making more. Check out the sketch if you haven't seen it yet!

More Cowbell Baby! WAF's The Walkens Featured On YouTube

We're featured on the YouTube Comedy Page again, this time with THE WALKENS!!!

I really can't take any credit for this sketch, as the entire thing was written by Kevin, however, I can take credit for laughing my ass off while I edited it. And maybe the neat-o opening jingle.

Truthfully, this was the funniest footage I have ever tried to edit. Editing usually stresses me out - but this was an effin' blast. There are so many outtakes that are hilarious - so many lines that Kevin and Chris "CJ" Riddell came up with, we're going to have to post an outtake reel.

We're also going to have to do a second episode.

Goodbye It's Your Show - We Hardly Knew Ya...

So word on the street is that the show that we were to be a major part of this summer, It's Your Show, is not going to see the lightwaves of TV Land. Their website is even shutting down starting April 30th!

We had a great time making a few things for them and we met a lot of awesome people. Here's a sketch that we were sort of holding back in case they showed it on TV first:

The good news is that they are still giving away the $100,000 prize. And we want to win it with Punchy! I think we'll have a pretty darn good shot at it.

The Secret Life Of Cows

Lots of you have been asking what we've been up to. Well, aside from writing and preparing for Punchy 2, Kevin and I have shot a couple of things. One of which was our first shoot with a large animal, this very cow you see here. Kevin and I did a promo for photographer Glen Wexler yesterday. Our friend Paula Gould works with him and we all came up with this silly, very Monty Python-esque idea for a sketch to promote Glen's new book, "The Secret Life Of Cows".

Even crazier - the foreward to the book is by one of my idols, Eric Idle. So, in some weird way, Wicked Awesome Films will be associated with Monty Python. Even if this is my own, skewed logic, I don't care. It's wicked awesome to me.

And by the way - Glen's book is HILARIOUS. No b.s. We got a look at it yesterday and we LOL'd. I think it's going to be a huge seller.

Punchy Script goes Open Source

We were approached by Fictionpage.com to post the script for Punchy in order to encourage people to use it to create their own version of Punchy. Being the geek that I am, I immediately thought that Punchy should be an "open source" script. What a fun idea! So here's the "press release" from digg:

The short comedy, Punchy!, has had over 2,748,532 views on YouTube, making it one of the most watched scripted comedies ever on the internet. The creators at Wicked Awesome Films, in support of the concept of open source screenplays, have now posted the script to FictionPage.com. This officialy makes the popular film, Punchy!, the first ever of its kind to go open source. The script is now free game for other YouTube and filmmaker enthusiasts to produce.

So fire up the camcorders - let's see YOUR Punchy!
